About the beach house
The Beach House radiates the relaxed charm of your grandparents’ South Coast beach bungalow in the 60s, with a distinct holiday vibe being exuded from every corner.
Drawing inspiration from Durbans rich and diverse surfing culture and heritage the design was created. We pay homage to all the legendary surfboard shapers, surfers, lifeguards and watermen from the period in the most authentic manner. Great care was taken to ensure every piece is period correct and tells a specific story which rings true to the Durban and South African surf culture.
Each and every element was carefully thought out, from the locally sourced farm to table style food menu paired with the wine and cocktail list to reflect a uniquely laid back Durban ocean feel.
Ocean eclectic would be a good way to describe the look and feel of the interior with four specific sections in which to enjoy the venue. Guests can expect a al fresco patio, diner style banquet seating, a comfortable bar resembling the front of a boat with a mermaid perched front and center to finish off the unique nautical feel, a pagoda with long communal seating accompanied by a custom made oyster shell chandelier and vintage lamps,, and a intimate lounge with library with bookshelves, reclaimed wood panels, various antiquities and marine treasures. With a beautiful vintage ship mounted upon the working fireplace in the center.
The casual style food menu consists of local favorites combined with smaller experimental tapas style plates and is carefully rounded off with a cutting edge cocktail program.
A new home for everyone seeking good vibes, great quality service and food, or to unwind with a refreshing drink at the end of a long day.
